FAQs

What should I do if I am having a mental health crisis?

Each client will have access to their therapist's email and the ability to instant message them securely through the client portal.  Messaging is the best way to connect for non-clinical and non-urgent communication between sessions.  Please keep in mind that our therapists are not available 24/7, and we do not have a therapist on call for emergencies. If you are experiencing an emergency and cannot safely wait until your next scheduled session, please go to your nearest emergency room or call 911.  You can also reach the Montgomery County Mobile Crisis Support Center at 1-855-634-HOPE (4673).

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule your session for any reason, you must let your therapist know through securely messaging them in the Client Portal.  You must provide us at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule, or you will be responsible for paying the full fee of the session.  We certainly understand that life happens.  In case of illness or emergency, waiving the fee will be at the discretion of the therapist.

Do you prescribe medication?

While our practice does not currently prescribe medication, we can certainly refer you to a psychiatrist, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, of family physician for medication management.  Please know that the decision to take medication is an extremely personal, and often very helpful decision that your therapist can support you in making.

How long does each session last?

Each session is 45-50 minutes in length.  This allows the therapist 10-15 minutes between sessions to complete the necessary documentation required following each session.

How long will it take?

Unfortunately, this is not possible to say in a general FAQs page. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time counseling can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek counseling in the first place.

I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?
